These
opt's where created for the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade
project in a attempt to visually enhance the craft
in the X-Wing: Alliance game.
Though you can download them here, you can also download
them from XWAUP.
All
of the Experimental TIE's are set to non flyable,
but can easily be enabled using either BHE or MXvTED,
each craft have pre-set POV setting's for the default
800x600 resolution. |

Brief encounters with
this starfighter revealed its exceptional speed and
manoeuvrability. Unfortunately, a powerful turbolaser
cannon was also discovered.
Believed to be developed
under the supervision of Admiral Zaarin as prototypes
in a program involving fighter drones.
The first encounter
of this starfighter was in the Vilonis Sector where
several cargo craft were mysteriously disappearing.
In the following few months, with the few distress
calls that where received spoke of swarms of strange
spacecraft descending upon their helpless freighters.
When our fighters responded, it is too late. All they
found remaining of the convoy was burning debris.
Civilian traffic has come to a standstill as commercial
vessels were afraid of meeting a similar fate.
This starfighter nicknamed
the "Bizarro" has a single solar collector
wing and twin pods, the port pod holds the pilot's
compartment. starboard pod contains a turbo laser
and power generators. |

This experimental model,
and its twin wing-mounted laser turrets, came as a
deadly surprise to a B-Wing group patrolling too close
to an Imperial base.
Believed to be developed
under the supervision of Admiral Zaarin as prototypes
in a program involving fighter drones.
After the attacks in
the Vilonis Sector, Rebel fighters where ordered to
escort several mock cargo vessels in order to lure
out these experimental TIE's into and engagement.
The objective was to disable as many of these prototypes
as possible.
Looking more like a
standard TIE Fighter than a experimental design, the
TIE BigGun has two laser turrets mounted on the wing
hubs. |

Note: This patch now includes the TIE Warhead MK2 which
has Quad Lasers resembling the TIE Interceptor, you
can select one or the other but not both.
An X-Wing squadron
was severely crippled by this new TIE starfighter.
Its heavy missile armament far exceeded anything encountered
before.
Believed to be developed
under the supervision of Admiral Zaarin as prototypes
in a program involving fighter drones.
Alliance fighters conducted
a commando raid on an Imperial production facility
in orbit over the planet Nomlis III in the Kurdin
system used to construct these experimental starfighters,
these TIEs were remote-controlled by pilots aboard
the modified ETRs.
At first glance this
TIE looks like a ordinary TIE Interceptor, but with
one disadvantage this TIE has twin missile pods attached
to the wing hubs. |

Fleet Systems TIE Experimental M4 Bomb v2
Apparently, this craft
was not designed as a starfighter, but rather as a
guided space bomb. Its incredible speed makes it very
difficult to evade.
Believed to be developed
under the supervision of Admiral Zaarin as prototypes
in a program involving fighter drones.
Following the commando
raid on the production facility, the CRS Liberty was
attacked by Imperial prototype starfighters taking
devastating damage from these suicidal fighter, faster
and hard to evade these were a formidable craft. |

Pilot Gwen Habbert
(MIA) reported: "Looks like the Imperials welded
an engine booster pack to a simple TIE fighter. Wow,
can that thing move!"
Believed to be developed
under the supervision of Admiral Zaarin as prototypes
in a program involving fighter drones.
The data from the production
facility was decoded. It was found that the Rebels
were correct in there assumptions. The Imperials were
indeed conducting research into new starfighter designs.
The project was headed by Director Lenzer. Apparently,
Lenzer was attempting to gather statistics on human
pilot flying techniques, specifically in combat situations.
With this information, he intended to program an artificial
intelligence capable of piloting fully automated fighters.
Imagine squadrons of
disposable fighters operating continuously. No fatigue,
minimal maintenance, and all completely loyal to the
Emperor. Rebel experts thought if the Imperials were
allowed to continue with this program, they may very
well achieve their goal. This would pose a serious
threat to the survival of the Rebellion. Agents inside
the Empire uncovered information on this project,
often at the cost of their lives, they found very
little. Intelligence assumed this project to be so
highly classified that only a few individuals within
the Empire are even aware of it existence. There was
no record of the production facility or of Lenzer's
orders.
Recon flights located
the main research facility which served as the staging
ground for the prototype starfighter program. An experimental
command and control vessel, served as a mobile base
for the prototypes, was also operational in the area.
All Imperial targets were eradicated putting a conclusive
end to this Director Lezner's scheme and abandoning
all research involving remote-controlled TIE's. |
