Update: The
significant update in this version is the ability
to merge meshes, transfer faces between meshes, and
facilitate the assignment of low LOD meshes. Below
is the complete list of the changes in v1.1:
Fixes:
Vertex Z coordinate repositioning is fixed. Resolved
error that occurred when deleting faces.
Features:
Revamped mesh-to-mesh and face-to-mesh assignment
functionality. Sizes greater than 1000 meters now
displayed in kilometers in the meter dimensions
report.
One new error check: Mesh quantity
limit.

Description: This
application allows you to COMPLETELY convert any
X-Wing Alliance OPT into a PRJ file which ACE can
read and operate on. It does the whole smash, including
flight group textures, engine glows, texture coordinates,
hardpoints, etc. However, obviously, illumination
and transparency will not be converted since ACE
doesn't support those.
Update: With
this version you combine a PRJ file you are working
on with another PRJ file, containing the meshes you
want to import. It won't just import the wire frame,
it will also import texture coordinates, hardpoints,
engine glows, texture names, and anything else that
may be on the mesh. However, even with this program
there will still be some technicalities to deal with.
First of all, the PRJ file with the meshes you want
to import must be at the proper coordinates, so that
when you merge the two files together the new meshes
will be placed where you want them to. Also, if you
are intending to replace an old mesh with a new mesh,
you will still have to delete the old mesh the slow
way--face by face.

Attention: One
thing Jedi mentions: -
"Quote: One more thing I would
like to mention though, is not to use this program
for evil purposes. I had plans to release this program
many months ago, but feared that people would start
ripping up other peoples Opts and re-releasing them.
If you want do that, you should obviously ask the
original modeler first."
Darksaber "I myself thoroughly
endorse this comment."
Note: If
you get a driver error when running the program,
download the drivers and extract them in to your
windows/system directory. |

Description: Opt Viewer, that shows the Wire Frame, Un-textured View, Textured View, Flightgroup Colour's, LOD's. This Utility will also show you the shading as it would look in game, oh and engine glow.
Author(s): Opt GL is Copyright © Ooc 2004
Features:
F1 to F4 : Left / Top / Front view
Shift+F1 to F4 Right / Bottom / Back view
Mouse-Right: Rotate
Mouse-Wheel: Zoom +/-
Note: I (Darksaber) received this utility back in 2004, from a French guy called Ooc, this is all I now him by. He then sent me a few versions, but as time went on I heard less and less of him, then he disappeared, I haven't heard from him since. I've use this viewer frequently, as it comes in very handy with the utility below (XWA Opter). |

|
|
| |
Description: I don't really know what this utility does other than to fix the strange shading you get on models in-game, you simple load the opt, XWA Opter will start automatically, it will calculate the fixes, and you simple save the opt.
Author(s): XWA Opter (Opt Fix) is Copyright © Ooc 2004
A few words from Ooc on how XWA Opter works: It's really a BETA, not well tested on every opts, so..
When opening an .opt, the combobox ask you to choice:
*.opt, *exterior.opt or *cockpit.opt
After that the program checks the opt:
*data integrity
*compares stored face normal and computed face normal
*computes ax+by+cz+d for QUADs
*CCW/CW test (ssd)
* etc..etc
And may shows some warnings
Example: when find a face like [0,1,2,2] (tug)
or
ax+by+cz+d is very diff of zero for vertex #4 there are ONLY warning, NO change is done for the moment!,
Next step:
after that : computing VxN
about 1 minute / 3000 faces @ 1GHz
The default name for saving is "basename" + "9" + "[cockpit/exterior]" + ".opt"
why "9": nine is "neuf" in French, that also means "new".
Oh, Last thing only xwa opts, it'll crash on older opts (because of 16k palette).
Note: Click on the picture of the X-Wing to see the difference this utility can solve. Use Opt GL to view the differences for yourselves. |

Description:
This utility can convert 3d Studio .3ds files to the
Optech project file format (.opz).
With this utility,
it is now possible to create models using 3d Studio
Max and then to import them in Optech to add the final
touch to your OPT.
This tool will convert
the meshes, faces, vertices, face normal's, vertex
normal's, texture coordinates and texture map names.
You will have to add other OPT specific information
in Optech.
You can also specify
a second 3ds file for your low detail model if you
want one.It will
merge both the high and low model to LOD1 and LOD2.
New in v1.1: Fixed the bug where
the Y and Z axis were swapped so the model is now
correctly oriented in Optech.
Note:
The LOD2 file should not have more meshes than the
LOD1 file. Also, if both LOD models share the same
texture names, it will use the one from LOD1. So you
should have different texture names in your LOD1 and
LOD2 models. Example: if LOD1 has a texture called
Tex000001.bmp and LOD2 has a different texture also
called Tex000001.bmp, it will use the one from LOD1.
So, you should rename the texture from LOD2 to something
not used in LOD1. Also, every face should have a material
assigned to it or it won't work. And remember to have
256 colour bitmaps for textures. Other image formats
won't work in Optech.
Isildur also mentions
that he has decided not to make a 3ds to OPT converter
since it would be almost impossible to put all the
information an OPT needs to run in XWA using 3d Studio
Max.

Description:
This little utility can convert XWA OPT files to 3d
Studio .3ds file format, preserving texture coordinates.
This utility is here to help people that want to view
or edit the models from Xwing Alliance in 3d Studio
Max.
You have the option
to convert single OPT files or to convert multiple
OPT files residing in a folder. For example, you can
convert all the OPTs from XWA in one shot. It takes
about 2 minutes on my P3 800.
I have tested all the
OPTs from the original Xwing Alliance game and about
30 custom made OPTs. All of them got converted without
any problems. I have tested the resulting 3ds files
with a 3d file viewer called 3D Exploration version
1.5, and also with 3d Studio Max version 2.5. If you
have problems converting a certain OPT or if the resulting
3ds file is not correct, please let me know so I can
fix the problem. By the way, it only supports XWA
OPTs, no XVT support.

Description:
With this little utility, you can convert Ace Dxf
project files to 3D Studio 3DS files preserving texture
coordinates. With Ace Dxf, you can only export to
dxf format but then, you lose the texture coordinates.
This app is here to help people that want to manipulate
the models from Xwing Alliance OPT files in 3d Studio
Max.
Note: You will need
OPT2PRJ v1.3 by Derek del Rio (Jedi Hunter) to convert
your Xwing Alliance OPT files to Ace Dxf project files.
Then, you can convert the project files to 3D Studio
with my utility.
