Your first present come in the form of the NEW Cargo Ferry by Marco Antonio Malheiros, this beautiful looking model is another addition to the XWAUP. The cargo pod on top to the Ferry has flightgroup colour's, you can see more pictures and download it from the Hosted Craft section under Marco Antonio Malheiros

My next offering is the Probe by Master Qui-Gon and can be downloaded from the Hosted Craft section under Master Qui-Gon

To the next presents, you haven't had may for a few years now, well I have two new one for you! The first is a Opt Viewer going by the name of OPT GL, and the Other Utility is called XWA Opter (or Opt Fix). I have had both of these utilities laying around on my hard drive for over a year now, I'll tell you why I haven't released them before now.
Well back in January of 2004, I received a email from a French guy called Ooc (this is all I know him by), telling me of a utility he had made and asked me to test, I'll let you read the email he sent me.
Email from Ooc:
I'm a french guy who is a fan of your site ( and some other xwaup, polaris ... ;-) . Congratulation for all the beautiful job you do.
Day after day i downloaded many OPTs from many sites; many releases of the same opt that i don't know the good one to extract from the archive. So i decided to create my own OPT's viewer using OpenGL to have a good and fast preview of the model (switching flightgroup's, lods ...)
Quickly i discovered some bugs in custom opts, in original too ... so i decide my viewer will be able to edit/fix/export/import too.
The viewer shows standard information about the opt, like dimension, hitzone ... etc; it shows also some custom measures like : texture dim DIV BY faces surface; trying to make a texturing quality indice of the OPT. I found some opts using 256x256 texture applied onto cm² and in the same one a 32x16 applied onto km² surface (UV in the 0.0 .. 1.0 range !) ( E- )
(Yours and XWAUP's usually win the A/A+ indice at this test).
Anyhow, I received a few updates over the next few months, but heard less and less from Ooc , I was hoping for a final version of these utilities, but I didn't. Time went by, so decided to email him just before last Christmas, I think it was, I did get a reply from him telling me, in the previous few months real life had taken over, in the same email there was a picture of a new born baby boy, so as you can understand why he didn't finish these utilities.
XWA Opter (Opt Fix) is also by Ooc, basically, XWA Opter fixes the strange shadowing you may get in-game on some custom opts, it recalculates the vertex.
You can read more and download both utilities from the File Archive under Opt Editors.
Almost forgot, you could say three New Utilities, Com_Trooper has updated Optech to version 1.1
This is what he had to say on the XWAUP Forums:

Greetings fellow XWA modders and modellers, I finally return with new news about OPTech. To cut to the chase, OPTech v1.1 is available at my site: XvT Technologies
This release was largely triggered by my guilt that people are continuing to tirelessly release beautiful models for XWA and I have been sitting idly by without releasing updated tools. This new version has actually been sitting on my hard drive for over a year, ever since Darksaber sent me a mail explaining that he needed a mesh assignment function in OPTech. I added it in and sent him the program with the intention that I would officially release it later with more changes (namely transparency and illumination texture map support) but I got sidetracked along the way. So instead of having everyone wait ad infinitum I have uploaded the version that I gave Darksaber. The transparency and illumination map stuff is still on the to do list, but this is a little more involved and it will have to wait until I have time and ambition to see it through :D.
The significant update in this version is the ability to merge meshes, transfer faces between meshes, and facilitate the assignment of low LOD meshes. Below is the complete list of the changes in v1.1:
Fixes
·Vertex Z coordinate repositioning is fixed.
·Resolved error that occurred when deleting faces.
Features
·Revamped mesh-to-mesh and face-to-mesh assignment functionality.
·Sizes greater than 1000 metres now displayed in kilometres in the metres dimensions report.
·One new error check: Mesh quantity limit.
End Quote
You can also download it in exe form from the File Archive under Opt Editors or download the manual install from XvT Technologies.
Other News:
General Trageton has found the time to update the VSD1 and make a new VSD2, you can download both from either the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade Project or from Vince's X-Wing HQ

Last but not least DTM he's also released a updated version of his V-19 Torrent which can be downloaded from MDT Industries.
I think that's about it, if I have missed anything or anyone I apologize.
Enjoy! |
