With the exception of Platinum Medals, Gold Medals are the highest medals of BfN. Getting Golds proves your excellence in skill and speed. There are six categories that you get graded on:

Completion Time: How long it took you to complete the mission
Enemies Destroyed: The number of enemy troops you completely destroyed, not partially
Accuracy: Percentage of hits which struck enemy objects. The percentage is determined by (number of shots which hit enemies)/(number of shots fired). To raise your percentage, try using blasters on strong enemy targets (such as AATs,) instead of missiles when you can. A missile which hits a target will count as 1 hit, but the equivalent in blasters will make it much higher.
Friendly Saves: Number of items that you are trying to protect or rescue that survived the end of the mission
Bonus Collected: A YES or NO, you must collect the bonus in the level if there is one to get a gold. Bonus locations are listed here.
Lives Remaining: You have three lives per level. Lives remaining is a reqiuirment that you have at least so many of these lives remaining at the end of the level.

The following is a list of hints on how to get the gold on each level. Note that you are expected to have all silvers and all power ups, especially the homing cluster missiles.

1: Escape from Theed Top

Tips:
Despite being the first level, it can be quite tricky if it's your first time. The three main worries you'll have are Accuracy, Enemies Destroyed, and Completion Time. You can easily bring up your accuracy and enemies destroyed by driving straight through the battle droids in your path and only firing at the ones that are too inconvinient to run over. For some extra enemies, there's about five extra hidden battle droids found by taking a tunnel after saving Kael for a second time. To cut out time, use your missiles on droidekas and on the tanks. Only destroy the first tank that you come across and the one at the end of the level. When turning hold down the the turning button (by default R,) to shave seconds off the clock. Don't forget the bonus at the end of the level.

2: Nemoidian Plunder Top

Requirements:

Tips:
Again, speed, kills, and accuracy are the tricky things here to keep under control. For speed, you'll need to get used to finding and picking out the quick STAPs before they turn. The faster you save the farms, the sooner you can go. For accuracy, you'll need a lot of practice. Fire right when the STAPs are right in front of you, and learn to anticipate their curves, and fire just ahead of where they're going. For kills, destroy almost all of the red dots on the radar. You'll need to learn the whereabouts of each enemy in order to quickly destroy them. When you get the Police/N-1 at the end of the level, be sure to take out the droid starfighters and some droids with cluster missles which you can find on the way out. To prevent a loss of a life at the bridge, use missles generously to take out the tanks, and don't bother with the last one.

3: Naboo Bayou Top

Tips:
This is an extremely mission, thanks to the Cluster Homing Missiles. Use the Naboo Starfighter for some extra missiles. You have a generous timeslot and accuracy is hardly counted. The only slightly hard thing is kills, as Kael might kill some enemies, but with the help of the Cluster Missiles, you can kill several enemies at once, far before Kael can get to the battle. This is very simple and one of the easiest golds to get in the game.

4: Smuggler Alliance Top

Tips:
This is a little tricky. Use the Flash Speeder, and clear the homestead out as fast as possible. The homestead is possibly the only major part of the game in which you have the most control over time. Don't forget to save the farmer and get the bonus. You'll also need to kill extra STAPs to bring your kill count up. Use missiles as you need them to speed up the AAT clearing process, and watch out for STAP hordes which can kill you quite easily.

5: Hutt's Retreat Top

Tips:
This shouldn't be very hard. You have plenty of time, so take out the Naboo Starfighter at the begenning of the level. With the cluster torpedos, you can wipe out the Droid Starfighters before they even get close to Borvo. Fly ahead of Borvo and eliminate the problems before the arrives.

6: Disruption of Comm 4 Top

Tips:
The only real problems here are lives remaining and kills. When attacking the first slave satellite, destroy all of the mines to substantially increase your kill count. Get very close the the slave satellite and fire a cluster torpedo, so all five shots go into the device. Use one set of torpedos for each slave satellite, and four to dispatch at Droid Starfighter swarms. Save the last three to quickly take out the missile turrets at the Satellite. Accuracy is not much of a problem, repeated shots at either a slave satellite or the Comm 4 will substantially increase your percentage.

7: Glacial Grave Top

Tips:
Not too hard, the priorities are kills and lives remaining. Taking out all of the mines at the start of the level can increase your kills substantially. When attacking each base, take out everything not stationed out on the platform first, in order to keep your wingmen with you. This will raise your kills and prevent you from getting lost, as your allies will leave once the platform is cleared. You can help save your lives by taking out Missile Turrets, especially the two stationed near the bonus at the last base and at the hangar. Be sure to take out all of the enemies in the last lake, including the mines beyond the gate.

8: The Andrevea River Top

Tips:
This is by far the hardest medals, and the sole problem is lives remaining. Every bit of life saved counts. Use projectiles to quickly destroy the four turrets at the beginning of the level to avoid any damage. At the lake with the slave camps, worry only about the two generators to get out of there. When chasing the two sentry gunboats, be careful for the mines, but do destroy both of them. At the end of the level, the hardest part, there are two equally tricky solutions to avoid instant death. One solution is to go in, and go in all the way. Blast down every turret in the area, constantly moving and never sitting still for the turrets to hit you. Take three clean shots while moving towards the turret (first lasers, then missiles), then go on to the next. The next strategy is a little harder to do but a better option if the other was too much to handle. Each turret, both missile and laser, takes three hits to destroy. Go in a methodical circle around the camp and shoot each turret twice- no more. If you destroy any turret, the alarm will sound and you'll end up fighting to the death. When you've fired each one twice, start destroying them, shooting each object once which will destroy it.
