Kyle Katarn
Kyle Katarn is a man who has
seen all sides of the Force. He has served in the special
operations division of the Imperial Army, as a Rebel Alliance
agent, and also as a Jedi Knight. Born on Sulon, the moon
of Sullust, Kyle came from farmer stock and had a close-knit
family. But while training at the Imperial Academy, he was
dealt a crushing blow: An Imperial notification tricked him
into believing his parents were killed in a Rebel Ambush.
Vowing for revenge against
the Alliance, Katarn joined the special ops division of the
Imperial Army; however, he soon learned the true face of the
Empire and his hatred grew for its underhanded ways. Katarn
ended his Imperial service when he elected to help Jan Ors
escape from their clutches.
Freed from his Imperial post,
Katarn turned into a mercenary-for-hire. Along with Ors he
vowed to help the Alliance fight against
the Empire.
His cause took on a greater
importance when he learned of the true fate of his father,
who was killed by a Dark Jedi named Jerec. This revelation
led Kyle on a journey to the hidden Valley of the Jedi, where
he learned of his powerful Jedi destiny. Kyle grappled with
the rigid duality of the force and nearly fell to its dark
side.
Suspicious of the Force's true
power, Kyle decided to give up the Force in order to protect
himself and others from its Dark Side. He turned over his
lightsaber to Luke Skywalker and returned to his old post
as a spy and saboteur for the New Republic. Now, Kyle's ability
to use the force has weakened to the point of non-existence.
Kyle now travels in the Raven's Claw, a powerful and fast
light carrier that replaces his old ship, the Moldy Crow.

Jan
Ors
A native of the planet Alderaan,
Jan Ors served as an Alliance operative during the early years
of the Galactic Civil War. Jan first met Kyle Katarn when
he was still in training at the Imperial Military Academy.
Katarn actually led an Imperial raid on a Rebel base where
Jan was stationed, and although the Empire took control of
the outpost, Kyle spared Jan's life during the operation.
Later, aboard the luxury liner Star of Empire, Jan
met Kyle again as he was on his way to his first military
posting.
Jan revealed that Kyle's father
had been murdered by the Empire, and not by Rebel agents as
Kyle had been told. The two cultivated a relationship and
Kyle offered to join the Rebellion against the Empire. Jan
met with Mon Mothma and persuaded the Alliance leader to hire
Kyle Katarn as a mercenary and commando, and Kyle and Jan
have worked as partners ever since. An incredible pilot, Jan
has become one of the few people Kyle trusts and perhaps the
only person in the galaxy he cares for
more than himself.

Luke
Skywalker
Raised on Tatooine by Owen
and Beru Lars, Luke Skywalker is the son of Anakin Skywalker,
the infamous Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader. He is also
the last of the Jedi Knights taught in the tradition of the
Old Republic, having learned from both Obi-Wan Kenobi and
Jedi Master Yoda. Luke proved to be a pivotal player for the
Rebel Alliance in their war against the Empire by destroying
the first Death Star.
After the New Republic struggled
in vain for more than a decade to consolidate their political
hold on the galaxy, Luke went before the Chief of State Mon
Mothma to ask her permission to bring back the Jedi Order.
With the support of the New Republic, Luke established his
Jedi Academy in the abandoned Rebel base on Yavin 4. Through
this process of creating a new order of Jedi Knights, Luke
hoped to create a learning center to reform the Jedi way and
help bring peace to the galaxy. Sensing the power and goodness
in Kyle Katarn, Luke has never given up on his hope of seeing
Katarn embrace the light side of the Force and fulfill his
training at the Academy.

Mon
Mothma
Once a Senior Senator in the
Old Republic, Mon Mothma joined with Senators Bail Organa
and Garm Bel Iblis to draft the Declaration of Rebellion against
the Empire once Palpatine took control of the Old Republic.
After the death of Organa and a fallout with Bel Iblis, Mon
Mothma found herself the Rebel Alliance's central leader through
the Galactic Civil War. During this time she took a chance
on a former Imperial Academy graduate, Kyle Katarn, who later
turned out to be one of the Rebel Alliance's greatest assets
during their struggle with the Empire.
After the fall of the Empire,
Mon Mothma was chosen to serve as the Chief of State for the
newly created New Republic government. She served valiantly
in the difficult first years of the New Republic, through
assassination attempts, uprisings from the Imperial Remnant,
and even the rebirth of the Emperor. Later, Mon Mothma stepped
down and presented the title of Chief of State to Leia Organa
Solo. Mon Mothma still remains heavily involved in government,
working closely with New Republic Intelligence to help maintain
peace and keep tabs on the movements of the Imperial Remnant.
Another side bonus to her work with the NRI is that she continues
to interact with her "favorite" agent, Kyle Katarn.

Rebel
Rebel is the derogatory term
that the Imperials used during the Galactic Civil War to describe
anyone who supported the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
These "rebels" were ordinary people who came from all walks
of life to join the Rebellion against the Empire. Training
and operating in secrecy, the Rebels worked for years to overthrow
Emperor Palpatine's Imperial Order. The Rebellion eventually
succeeded in their goals with a decisive victory at the battle
of Endor, which paved the way for the formation of the New
Republic.

Bespin Security
Guard
Officially known as the Cloud
City Wing Guard, these troopers not only police the streets
of Cloud City, but they also serve many other official capacities:
firemen, customs agents, meteorologists, and bomb disarmers.
In the past the Wing Guard served corrupt, totalitarian leaders
of Cloud City, but Lando Calrissian changed all that when
he became baron-administrator. After he left Cloud City to
join the Rebel Alliance, the Wing Guard continued to serve
the best interests of people of Cloud City for the most part.
Small pockets of corruption have invaded their ranks in recent
years, caused by the overflow of criminal activity in the
lower levels of Cloud City.
