World Overviews
The 25 races that make
up the four racing tournaments take place on a myriad
of remote and very alien worlds, from the familiar sand
dunes of Tatooine to the methane lakes of Malastare.
The unique worlds offer up an incredible and challenging
array of racing environments - you'll race through the
streets and steel towers of a penal colony on one end
of the spectrum, and then to the lush undergrowth and
tangled vegetation of a jungle world on the other. While
the worlds may vary, the goal remains the same: drive
fast and drive hard!
Tatooine
Tatooine is the home
of young Anakin Skywalker and also home to the famous
Boonta Eve Classic race, hosted by the notorious Jabba
the Hutt. This planet is hot and dry, and the topography
is punctuated by deep canyons, flowing dune fields and
towering rock structures. The roads of white packed
gravel are wide and fast, but the rock walls are unforgiving.
Tatooine is also the home to the small Jawas (but watch
out for their large sandcrawler!) and the Tusken Raiders
(who love to snipe at the pod racers).
Mon
Gazza
This red, dusty world
is home to massive spice mines. The sky is blotted out
from the dusty mining operations, and huge spice barges
float overhead. You'll encounter massive mining machinery
digging away in the dusty soil as the races go on -
oblivious to the speedy little pod racers darting underneath
their huge treads.
Ando
Prime
Ando Prime is an icy
world full of glacial caves and frozen lakes. The dark
rocks offer a stark contrast to the blues and whites
of the glacial ice. You'll race through ice caves dotted
with translucent ice stalactites, through a long and
hazardous pipeline and skid across the surfaces of lakes
long frozen.
Aquilaris
Aquilaris is a deep blue
world of seemingly endless oceans. Only a few islands
dot the endless wash of blue, and upon these islands
rest the only active cities on this ancient world. As
you race through the submerged tunnels between the city
islands, you'll also discover an abandoned "sunken
city" that is now only a rusting, dusty ghost town.
Malastare
Malastare is a strange
world, known for its methane geysers that spill the
greenish gas into the thin atmosphere, forcing it to
pool in eerie, glowing lakes. Giant flying insects move
with ease through the noxious, nighttime atmosphere,
oblivious to the roars of the pod racers below.
Oovo
IV
This desolate place is
the fourth moon of the giant gas planet Oovo. For centuries,
it has been both a penal colony and a work camp. Rich
ores are mined by the prisoners at the center of the
moon and these giant, tumbling rocks are shuttled out
to the surface via a series of zero-gravity shafts.
While this world did, at one time, posses a strange
natural beauty, nearly all of that beauty has now been
covered by concrete and steel.
Ord
Ibanna
Ord Ibanna was once a
profitable galactic center for gas mining, but since
the resources have all been exhausted, the floating
mining centers have been left for dead. Now, only wily
scrap and salvage dealers roam amongst the floating
wreckage of rusting buildings and roadways. The giant
suspension bridges have fallen into disrepair, and often,
nothing but a howling wind remains where a mighty bridge
once stood.
Baroonda
Baroonda is a lush and
tropical world thick in rainforest vegetation and active
volcanoes. Wide, white-sand beaches showcase relics
of a long-dead civilization - giant carved heads and
sculptures. Now, the Majan people have built up a new
urban center amidst the rich foliage, but still they
return to the time-tested ways of using reed and bamboo
bridges to span the towering gaps. |
