| Laser
Cannon
The laser cannon is the
standard starfighter armament, as efficient and deadly
as it is common. Though the Rebel Laser is noticeably
orange, and the Imperial a bright green, laser cannons
all work alike. They are effective to a range of 1.5
kilometers against other starfighters, and nearly twice
that distance against larger craft and capital ships.
Laser cannons are powered by the starfighter's power
core, and as such do not run out of ammunition. However,
they grow weaker as the their dedicated energy reserves
decrease. Laser cannons are fast-firing, but they slow
considerably when linked. They are considered your best
friend and your worst enemy.
Ion
Cannon
Ion Cannons, while slower
and shorter-ranged than laser cannons, target an opponent's
electrical systems, without damaging the hull. An ion
cannon assault leads to the target's systems shutting
down completely - invaluable for capture and espionage
missions.
Turbo
Laser Battery
Essentially identical
to standard starfighter laser cannons, turbo lasers
line the sides of capital ships and - unlike those on
smaller starfighters - are never at a loss for energy.
Turbo lasers can fire without delay, hence the name.
Imperial Star Destroyers and other capital ships come
fortified with dozens of these energy weapons, and their
able gunnery crews can pinpoint individual starfighters
and destroy them with frightening consistency.
Proton
Tolrpedo
Well-suited to battling
light capital ships and other slow-moving targets, proton
torpedoes are damaging and accurate. The expert pilot
can even use them well against slower enemy starships
in close quarters because of their accuracy and quickness.
A single proton torpedo can shatter a starfighter, though
a competent pilot should be able to outmaneuver the
warhead or even destroy it with lasers.
Advanced
Proton Torpedo
The advanced proton torpedo
is faster, more maneuverable, and stronger than the
standard model. It is deadly against slow starfighters
and a potent weapon against any capital ship in space.
Concussion
Missile
Designed strictly for
ship-to-ship combat, concussion missiles can tear at
the opponent's shields and hull, either destroying them
completely or rendering them very vulnerable. Much faster
and maneuverable than proton torpedoes, concussion missiles
are much more dangerous to the fighter pilot, who must
be very quick and nimble in order to get out of the
way. Shooting down an incoming concussion missile is
not easy.
Advanced
Concussion Missile
Stronger, faster, and
more maneuverable than the standard concussion missile,
the advanced concussion missile can quickly sway a battle
in your favor. All but the finest starfighter pilots
will fall prey to these deadly, precise warheads. |
