Create textures by 3D modeling
Use Rhino rendering capabilities to create your texture
If you try to UV map your model with Rhino, sometime it's more easy to create the base texture for your model using a planar
surface and 3D details on it. So you have an engine nozzle to texture for your project :

You have you model in Nurbs Surface and you are ready to create the textures for them.

To create your texture you need26.10.2006 19:30model. To make your model easy to manage I highly
suggest to you to place these copied surfaces into a new Layer
named Engine nozzle Textures .

To help you to place details on your surface you need to place them on the same plane. Also if you want to have a detail starting on the first surface and finishing on the last this will be very useful.

After you have rotated the surface in the Top View you have the
real shape you need to texture.

Apply a basic texture on your surface. The texture you can use here can be one you have freely downloaded from Internet or one you
have already created.

Add has many detail has you want:
If you want to have pipe running along the surface place line where you want and create the pipe.
If you want to have a hole detail you can use a solid black colour on your 3D
elements.
You can use coloured element or apply basic texture on them make FX. After you
have added all details you want and your surface is trimmed use the Untrim command.
This is very important because it's impossible to know exactly where the UV
mapping is located. Anyway the Mapping are very close to the surface shape and
you will probably able to see the background colour on you model in the game.

Now your base texture is created use Rhino rendering capabilities
and render your texture in the top view. Set the Render resolution to 512X512,
click render and save the picture. Open it with your paint program like Paint
Shop Pro, grab your texture inside the picture. Add the final touch : Scratch,
dirt, blaster impact, ... resize the texture to a correct size. Open your Rhino
model apply the texture on your final model to confirm if the texture is good
or not.
